Debbie, thank you very much for Heartbreak Warfare. How cool of you. Loved hearing it at all 3 shows.
I've been home for 9 hours and I still feel like I'm rocking. I think Mayer said it best during the Q&A..."Listen, I love you and you love me, but I think right now we all just want to get the fuck off this boat!" We were on deck 1 and at one point we heard this huge booming sound over and over (someone said it was the anchor hitting the boat but who knows), all the walls and elevators were creaking, and I was just thinking "damn, this boat is gonna start tearing apart!" It's going to take me a loooong time to process that trip in my mind. One of the best times of my life, no doubt. The highlights for me were: first row at both DRH shows and getting a bday shout-out from John on the last night in the disco. Too many other good times to mention...the list would go on forever. The cruise was way, WAY better than last year. |

So, did the kiss happen or was he joking about it? I still can't even tell by the way he was acting in that clip. I'm guessing his publicist and
management team aren't too happy today.

BEST. VACATION. EVER.
But, thanks to all the temp changes on the boat (really cold temps in the lounges vs. hot temps on the lido deck) I now have a sinus cold! So although I hated for the cruise to end, I really needed it to so I could catch up on some sleep and get to feeling better! Like others have said, this one totally blew last year's out of the water. I thought the scheduling of shows was better and there were plenty of chances to see all the artists at least once, if not twice. Also, they definitely beefed up security at all of John's shows. It was pretty lax last year, but this year it was a bit over-the-top. All the guys in the yellow shirts were total camera nazis! Since there was no video taping allowed and no flash photography either, they were CONSTANTLY watching for those things. One of my friends nearly had her lense broken off her camera because the security guy thought it was detachable, but it WAS NOT. Ridiculous!! So that was probably my only complaint for this cruise. Other than they really needed to SLOW THE FUCK DOWN on our way back to LA....the damn boat was rocking so much that the water in the pool on the lido deck was crashing from side to side! It was seriously hard to walk straight because the boat was rocking so much. Thankfully it didn't make me sick, but it was just damn annoying! One of the highlights for me was being able to ask John a question during his show on Mon night. I was right up front on the DRH side and when he asked us all if we had any questions for him I quickly raised my hand, then he walked right over and pointed the mic at me. I asked where we would be going for the next Mayercraft, but he really couldn't give us an answer yet since the current cruise hadn't even ended! Our seats for this show were the best I've ever had as we had nothing obstructing our view AT ALL. I felt like I could reach out and touch him on a few of the guitar solos! Got some great pics, but haven't even looked at them yet, so it may be a while before I post any. Another highlight was our day in Cabo....sooooooo much better than Freeport last year! The views of the beach & ocean there are simply spectactular! We hit a place on the beach with some lounge chairs & umbrellas and proceeded to have a few margaritas (2 for $7!!!). You can't beat that! The wait staff at the bar put on a dance show in the afternoon and had a few contests that were quite interesting. After that, the party was on! We met some cute boys from NY and barely made it back to the boat in time before it left! Thanks to my friend Geneva, she made sure we weren't left behind
Overall I really had a blast on this cruise....there are so many other things I could mention, but just being there with some great friends, and hearing from John about how much he really does appreciate us was just so special. And as John said, I think I'm having post-departum depression right now too!!

I cannot wait to hear more, even though it seriously bums me out that we weren't able to go again. Debbie, thanks so much for taping! And Monica, dying to
see your pictures... I know you have an awesome camera and if you were that close, they should be pretty damned good.

OMG! Loved Gravity from first show. Thank You again and again Debbie. I had my headphones on in the bed listening to it and my dogs just sat up and stared at
me. I am sure they thought I was having a seizure. Did John mention Alaska as a destination for the next MCC? Drinking and rough seas do not always mix. I
always feel like I am on the tea cup ride and they won't let me off. Those wristbands don't always do the trick.
Carl is really funny too. Maybe they can do some stand up together. |

International Delight | ||
Well, I am finally sitting down with a cup of coffee, looking through my photos, and reading everyone's comments. Anyone care for some International Delight? I still feel like I am riding the waves on that boat! I've been on lots of cruises, but this one was the roughest ride I've ever been on! MCC 2 definitely went above and beyond my expectations. Without a doubt it beat the first cruise. We had an awesome group of friends that just made the
whole experience even sweeter.
Like Monica said, the camera security was insane. One security guard grabbed my camera out of my bag and tried to push a button on the side and twist off the lens!!! It's loose now, but it still works. He didn't believe me that it wasn't detachable until a Sixthman guy stepped in and told him the camera was fine. Then I about got assaulted at one of the shows when another security guard accused me of video-taping when I wasn't. I was in the balcony and it took awhile to zoom and get the camera to focus. That hurt my feelings a little bit because I really was being a good girl. Oh well...I'm over it now. I loved the Lido Deck show because I finally got to experience Neon in person for the first time. I loved it. My roommate from last year got pit tickets
from the ticket fairy for the first show and Sixthman allowed me to use her original ticket, so I got to see both headlining shows. I was in the balcony the
first time, so it was interesting to see it from that perspective. I felt kind of detached from the whole experience up in the balcony, but I was so thankful
to be there! The second show was amazing! I've never been that close before so it was pure bliss. Usually I have to scheme about how to smuggle in a
step stool, but there were no obstructed views this time! Too bad I don't have any videos because that show was HOT. I enjoyed both the Q&A and
Soundcheck. I got a photo of my cake autographed. Cabo was INSANE! I had to go rub down with Purell from the Lido deck buffet area once I got back on the boat. Okay, if you ever go to Billygan's
Island in Cabo, stay away from the two for one margaritas and the jello shots. Trouble, trouble, trouble. Before I knew what was happening, I was doing my
new latin dance moves in the sand, but Monica was doing much worse. Hahaha!!! I don't know where the NY boys came from, but they were hilarious. If
Geneva had not hauled our asses back to the boat, I swear we would have missed the boat. There's no way... Our water taxi got in a wreck on the way back
to the ferry!!! That was crazy!!! I don't remember waiting in the long line to get on the boat, but I'm told I smiled the whole time. We spent the last night dancing to John's tunes in the disco. I felt like I was back in high school again doing the humpty hump. I think I got two
hours of sleep before getting off of the boat. Now it's time to recover...it's going to take awhile. I'm so happy to be back home, but 'm
also a little sad that it's over already.

just starting to wrap my head around the last couple of days. this was a billion times better than last year's cruise and i loved last year's. john
seemed like he was much more comfortable on the boat and really made the effort to get around and do things this year. i think part of him realized he was on
vacation with friends, too, and he should make the most of it.
i got to ask a question in the Q&A, which was fun. kinda kicking myself i didn't ask about his music teachers but...i asked about the song writing process and if it's changed...how it happens. he said it's still the same one song at a time process of having the goal in mind first and then getting there with music. during the Q&A he also mentioned he's shooting for a fall release (Sept/Octish) of a new album and then touring starting in november. i was hoping he'd sit in on a couple different sets with different artists on the boat, but he only did that with DRH's shows. not sure who else he would've sat in with...maybe guster or martin sexton. i would've loved to see him sit in with james hunter. the group played this sorta modern twist on 50s soul/blues/rock that i thought john would've had fun with. next year! ok...here are just a smattering of pics from various things. i took zero photos of the comedy thing because i was laughing way too hard and was in the 2nd row...didn't feel like being part of the bit. more to come from show #2...house is still swaying. as always, drop me a PM if you were on the boat and your pics turned out weird and you'd like one without the stamp across it. kinda surprised some of these came out considering how much my liver was busy battling rum...and tequila...and vodka...and whatever the hell was in that glorious drink called "The Cruiser". him faster and when he took it from me I said to him, "Here's the best cake that didn't win your contest!" And I'm told I kept yelling "I'm on a boat!" while standing in line to get back on the boat in Cabo (which is in reference to the
song).....so I apologize if we annoyed any of you standing in line then!!

Still feeling the waves, and the love. JM is in top form. Being buffed like that with the sleeve, makes his guitar look smaller. I saw the first night's
show and it was perfect. Favorite moments were DRH shows with JM and Robbie's jams, esp 2nd night. Had an accidental lunch with Robbie, did not recognize
him. Noticed his British accent and asked if he came from the UK for the cruise. He said, "well, I'm in the band." I felt like such an ass.
So I apologized, called him Robbie Appletosh MacIntosh and we had quite a nice chat. He just got off tour with Norah Jones and said it was the vocal
experience of his life. Really high on DRH, I'm going to look for both his and Robbie's CD's as merch was completely sold out at the end except
for James Hunter. Felt a bit bad for him, he should have been booked on the Blues Cruise. Saw him at the taxis on the way out and told him I was relieved
that there was some R&B there. Also ran into the frontman from Pictures and Sound during the mess getting off the boat, he is great and I really liked
their show. He thanked me for supporting live music and said he hoped I would be back next year. I said I don't think I can take it.
Pop trivia contest with James Smith as MC was hillarious. I think the only thing I missed was the magician. All in, a really good time but I think that's the last one for me. I'm getting too old for this. It's like an endurance contest. Really liked the Q&A, esp when he said, "enough partying. Anybody got any papers to collate, staple, anything"? Tearjerker moment when he talked about his new project with the Vets. Also when he talked about his dad when he played STT on deck, his dad waving even though he knew he couldn't see him through the tinted bus windows. "That's what parenting is all about." Wasn't keen on chasing the whales around in the Zodiac. Felt like harrassment. I asked if any ever come under the boat and he said 4 months ago a baby did, trying to scape the barnacles off of its back. Jose 1 (there are lots of Jose's in the company) was a trip, has been doing it 13 years, the eagle eye of the ocean. I named him the Cabellero Ballena (Whale Cowboy.) We saw lots of mothers and babies on their way back to Alaska. During the Mick Mgt panel which was very informative, Michal said "let's put a pin in it right now" about taking the cruise to Alaska next year. That was a funny moment during the Q&A too, when someone said it would be too cold and JM replied, "have you been outside"? Cold and choppy, no sleep, and an experience that I will always remember. Lots of good music and people. I hope the girl who passed out and disappeared realizes that she inconvenienced 3,000 people trying to get off the boat. Nice move. |

I don't care if you're in your 30's or 40's, if you incovenience 3,000 people, you're still a girl. I also understand she didn't do it
on purpose and if she ever joins AA and gets to the 9th step, she'll have to ask for the ship's manifest for MCC2 from 2009, Even Craftier, and make
apologies to all of those people. Never mind the Port Police who came onboard to search the rooms and the crew who were hoping for the best and dreading the
worst.
In regard to OSE, I thought the gift boxes were quite nice and generous and I really liked the new song that he played that night better. Something about only being able to love with "half my heart." No need to post it, I can wait for the record. |
