The reason I said that I'm too old for another one is that I just can't stay up all night any more without severe consequences. I'm 54 this year
and haven't gotten out of my pajamas all day today. I passed out on the plane home before it even took off and I don't even drink. I've already
told my friends that if I start talking about going next year, to please remind me that a third one will probably do me in. It's totally personal and
subjective.
How did you people sign up for both shows? I talked to a guy who didn't have a ticket for either because he bought late and they were sold out. Got a good cruise price but I was really hoping that they came up with a show ticket for him somehow. I gave him my soundcheck pass just so he would at least be able to see JM in the Spec Spec a bit. That was a v funny line from James Smith: "Did they hire a stutterer to name the theatre? Isn't one Spectacular enough? Can't they just call it the Concert Room"? He in a way made the trip for me because I was feeling a bit overwhelmed at times and it's always good to have a good laugh. And to hear someone tell it like it is about the boat, and everything else for that matter, is refreshing. I love the towel animals, I always keep all of mine until the end, but his line about coming home to a bunny on the bed when you're shitfaced was so funny. "It even has eyes. OK Buggs, I know I'm drunk, quit staring at me." Sorry to hear that someone didn't like Pics and Sounds. I fell in love with them when they played the Paul McCartney cover. I was singing along and the girl next to me said, "oh, do you know their stuff"? That's what I mean about being old. One more thing about JM: I came away from the Q&A very impressed once again. He is so smart and funny, besides being a gifted songwriter and musician. His message about if you only take one thing from the cruise let it be that you find something that you love to do, form your own personal company around yourself, network with friends, was very personal for me as I am looking for a job and it's very difficult. He helped me to think about strategizing. Didn't they specifically ask at OSE that it not be taped? Did Debbie get called out in appreciation for taping or sort of as an admonishment? I wasn't at the 2nd show so I didn't hear it. For those who went to both shows, were they pretty much the same or one better than the other? Night One was great. Thanks for all of the pics. I don't have a camera phone or a digital camera and am a lousy photog anyway so it's nice to have the ones that everyone posts. |

Thanks for the link to the RS article. It covers the trip really well; I'm sending it to my friends who want details, it says it much more succinctly than I can. Nice choice of pics too. Debbie, now that I know what you look like, I'll introduce myself next time. I tend to be a bit shy (really, Nacho Libre mask aside...) so unless someone tells me "hey come introduce yourself" I don't generally do it. Sometimes I feel like I don't want to be bothered when I am 'experiencing' the music and so I feel like I don't want to bother other people, either...if that makes sense. As for how we got into both shows...we were told that all tix were 'sold out' but to show up at such and such door at such and such time. We had a feeling some people wouldn't show up to the second show because by that point so much drinking had gone on, not to mention people being seasick. So anyway Ina was there and she very explicitly told us not to go to the front or the pit, to please be respectful of people who hadn't had a chance to see the first show. My friends and I split up among the last 3 rows, couldn't see much under the overhang but the sound was good and we were just happy to be there. Big difference between the 2 shows...number one the crowd was more intense and so were the musicians, show 2 was more laid back and fun. Both were awesome in their own way. |

The night before he was in the Disco for a long damn time, probably still passing out shots, lol. For the first show I was on Robbie's side, row A, seat 1. So if you'd like some pix, I wouldnt mind sending some.

This afternoon I was downloading my photos from my camera to the computer and when I went to look at them a whole first two days of the photos were gone. Do
anyone how I could try to recover them from the card ? Is anyone really good with computers and can give me advice about what to try. I am sad to lose those
photos especially ones of JM on the lido deck. I have no idea how they could have been lost. Thanks for any advice anyone may have.

video taping was not allowed, not audio... Andy knows I tape, David knows I tape, John knows I tape ..so no it was not a scolding. I don't hide it, mic right there on my shirt... And I loved the second show there was more banter, funny q&a with the audience. and yes his voice was a bit raw but it was a wonderful show... They both were good...he goofed around so much he missed doing 4 acoustic songs he had on the set list, David handed my friend the set list after the show... so as long as he was having a good time the show was good. Ok here's my short and sweet favorite moments...
Definitely the shout out to Debbie at the second show! I raised my glass and applauded you too! It's cool to know that she will always answer people's questions on here, and share links to shows, even if they are already posted and us neubs just can't find them. You totally deserved that recognition and I'm happy for you! I DOn't Trust Myself-- @ the 2nd show was the best version of that song I'd ever heard! Someone screaming "I wanna mate with you" & him asking if they said "I wanna bank with you?" HAHA James Smith's comedy was too friggin funny! Loved him! John's was good too, but sometimes I feel like he should know his audience a bit better. The majority of us are female and all his jokes are about porn, jerking off and his penis. Kinda weird. The Miami Vice drink!!! Half Pina Colada/ Half Straw Daq. Yummy! JC in the club on the last night. JM DJing 99 problems but a bith ain't one---> appropriate. And Paper Planes- MIA<--- my fav. song and last but not least.. the fact that I weigh a pound less then when I got on the ship! Too drunk to remember to eat half the time! Things I didn't like... THE ROCKING!!! Sea sickness is a weird feeling and I was still swaying, even this morning. The cloudiness on the last day-- really wanted to hit up that water slide- instead I was wearing 2 long sleeve shirts over my bathing suit. And uh, sorry but Melvin, or as I like to call him-- speed walker. I said his name and tapped him on the arm at one point to say hello and he just turned around and walked the other way! Eww rude. Your not the famous one buddy, best buy commercials or not - get over yourself. One other thing.. What is this about a passed out/ missing chick? I heard from multiple people that there were drugs found all over the ship that people bought in Mexico. People were saying, "Oh, the cops were raiding my floor, 3, and 4 and 7 ect. " There were drug sniffing dogs and everything? |

Most of the people who saw two shows did so because there were seats left over after the show started. It was very well managed. and there were a lot of OAR
fans on the boat and Guster fans that didn't go to John's shows as conflicts with times. All that guy had to do was go out to a Guster show or an Oar
show and ask around someone would have given him their ticket to use...
lots of those band's fans were on the boat and they were not hard to find. lots of seats vacant the first show, lot's vacant the second. Way up but were there...
