I found a software program that will convert the files directly from my .mpg files and now I have another question! It converted some of them as .mp3 and some
of them as .wav files. I noticed that the .wav files are significantly larger and I'm not sure which I should upload here or if I should convert them into
both formats and upload them. Does it make any difference to the quality?
Thanks! Libby Edited to add that I figured out how to choose which format to convert it to while I was playing around with it. I've burned a CD and the quality is ok. Better than I would have expected considering it's from a camera! |

Wav is what is known as 'lossless', meaning it's a complete replica of the mpeg audio you have. Putting is into MP3 is compressing the music so
that it's much smaller in size. Quality is lost. However the higher the bitrate, the better the quality. I would recommend converting the wavs into mp3
using dbpoweramp, which has a really good mp3 encoder. It's free software. Install it, right click and select all the wavs, click 'convert to',
select mp3 from the tab, then push the slider up to 'V0' which is the best quality encoding setting you can have, and still compresses really nicely.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/lvp8jn A couple of notes....Wheel has a spot with a bit missing because my camera stops after 10 minutes. I started recording again right away and I combined the audio tracks so if you listen right at 10:00 you'll hear where it blends. You won't want it for a compilation but anyone using it should at least be aware. Personally, I just wanted the download of the show because I was there and there was some great banter that I did get with the songs. Also, I was in the 2nd row and for some of the songs the sound was distorted...it was distorted when we were there, and it is in the recording...not much I can do about that. I just want everyone to know that it wasn't a 'tape' as in a single recording that was tracked, it was videos that I took and converted. This can't compare to the quality of what others have up there but have a listen any way. I didn't think it was that bad. We were just really recording for our enjoyment and to share the video. I'm glad I was able to convert it! Thanks so much for your help! I can't wait for the compilation! P.S Kelsey is wondering if the Darien Lake medley is going to make the cut.

Libby thanks a lot for putting the effort in, it's always nice to be that one step closer to the whole collection. You can tell Kelsey that there may well
be a bonus track hidden in there somewhere featuring the medley ^_^
Have about 15 more tracks to edit/master and then I need to work out a tracklist, which is going to be a nightmare what with the number of songs and real variety of genre etc. Still need to send the taper request email but annoyingly the majority of the tapers didnt include their email addresses in their nfo's on archive.org. Their loss I guess. Those who did leave their emails are also getting a three track sampler of how the mix is going to sound. I have a request for the liner notes as well. Im going to need a large collection of photos of the fans. So people on the road/in line/holding their ticket etc. Also if if anyone took photos of the actual venues as well I'd love to get some shots. Some kind of collage wall is going to be made. None of the pictures in my JM appreciation thread are my own (I had crappy seats in both venues); they are pictures SHARED here on this board. No I don't think so, if i took pictures and I went to all the trouble Cait does to watermark them and crop and alter and then take them down a notch so
when they are reproduced they are not the best quality and they end up on someones site with no credit or with no way for people to get in touch with her for
the original photos? Yeah I would be a bit pissed too. She shares them here with us. Just like you can go to wireimage...you want to bet you wouldn't
be contacted if you took the watermark off those pics and displayed them on your website without proper identification?
and no she didnlt take the watermark off, but some people have no idea how to put a watermark on... but if you are going to place someone elses pictures in your photobucket and then not even try to find out whose they are and contact her...yeah I would be upset. She took those pics from a post it wasn't like she couldn't have contacted Caite and asked and I am sure Cait's reaction would be different. Yes Cait is my friend. But when MY pic from the WPB last year, in the wife beater was picked up by Perez..yeah it makes you angry. debbie

I have been very open about giving photos to people who ask for them. I have even sent CDs of pics without watermarks to be used for personal scrapbooks. If the person who posted the photos had asked, I would have probably gladly given permission. It's just common courtesy for those of us on this board to respect each other's creative works and ask for permission before reposting.
