yeah, i would cut down to one vocal track. your vocal lines aren't exactly the same on the runs and such and that makes it sound really busy. If you want
that doubled sound you could add a tad of delay to fatten it up or practice it until you can sing your vocal lines note for note.

Thanks for the recording advice, I'm not too concerned about how the song was captured but more how it was written ...lyrics, key, chord progression things
of that nature. Do you have any thoughts about that stuff?

I haven't practiced a lot with songwriting yet, i think anyone can make a chord progression your own. This sounds soild. Can't give advice about
lyrics, key sounds good for your vocal range.

I think that song would clean up nicely,
Keep the guitar fills to a minimum on a track like that I think and get a defined direction of where you want the vocal melody to go. As far as the chord progression goes I think it flowed along with what you're trying to acomplish in this tune. Over all good track. Oh one more thing.........Stop playing Red House. Thats just a pet peev of mine.... |

thanks fred i was wondering if the lead track was too busy but i just love how the martin sounded so i left it in there and the vocal melody is coming along
better I basically recorded and wrote this in the same day and that was 3 months ago i think i have a better idea of where i want it to go now .....as for the
Red House, hahha my band doesn't play it anymore my new bass player sucks at the blues anyways haha so we gotta get his chops up in that area ....just
curious why dont you like people playing it? I got sick of it myself. Thanks again for the help guys

psychedelic sandwich wrote:Around here it seems that everyone trys to play Red House and unfortunately is done very poorly at best. Guitar players think that just because they can play a I IV V progression they can play any ole blues standard ( insert blues song title here ) and it just doesn't work that way. I should have been more specific I guess about my pet peeve. I will get off my soap box now. |

psychedelic sandwich wrote:Easy man, did I say your version of Red House sucked? No I didn't. You asked why it was a pet peeve and I told you Around here it seems that everyone trys to play Red House and unfortunately is done very poorly at best. You also know what I meant when I said " how it works " and if you don't you shouldn't be playing the guitar, you strike me as the kind of guy that knows what I meant. Seriously bro calm down I wasn't trying to blast you at all. I repeat I am not nor will I ever berate someones playing, but we have all heard some guy butcher the blues and think jeeezzzz someone tackle him please! |

Olivia sounds lika a Grateful Dead cover to me...
You did rock the Red House! Good Job! |

Sweet, I love the Dead and was totally goin for that! You nailed it sasho. It's kind of a mix of "wharf rat" and "friend of the devil"
maybe even a little bit of "playin in the band" in there.
Fredlight, you told me to stop playing it as it was a pet peeve of yours when people cover blues and dont know "how it works". If you didnt think it sucked you wouldnt have told me to stop playing it, that comes off as kinda jerky to me.....blues has such individual interpretation you cant say "how it works" in my opinion..... I think I might as well go back over yonder.... |

psychedelic sandwich wrote:Yes it is a pet peeve of mine when someone plays the blues and has know idea what they are doing....agree? It has nothing to do with an interpretation it has to do with not wanting to listen to shitty music. I can't say it any clearer than that. I was not talking about your music at all, I liked your stuff and in know way was I trying to say your version of Red House sucked ( I only listened to the intro ) If you took it that way I apologize. Remember you asked and I told you, sorry you didn't like my answer, and Sasho is right, I went back and gave Olivia another listen and it has a Greatful Dead type vibe to it wich made me like it more. |

Nice! I think your new demo is really cool and chill. The other guys have already pointed out some stuff that could be worked on.. I don't mind the fills
because they are in the background and only add a bit of depth to the song if you ask me. I was kinda thinking about Clapton's "Back Home" where
he plays fills during the song in the studio version.
Red House rocks and She's The Reason is the f***ing bomb but i already told you that ! Still got it on my Myspace hahahah |

nice tune...rough around the edges, but nice. I'm not going to bombard you with advice - I think that the earlier posts cover your "areas of
opporunity" - As an aside...love the "Back on the Train" Cover....

Exactly, I was thinking of it as a mixtoure of "Friend of the Devil" and "Playing In The Band" .... I absolutely adore Grateful Dead as
well... keep it up though!
