In other news, we have puppies! Suddenly. Unexpectedly. Mini-pinchers. Maybe a little Chihauhua in there too. It was an unexpected rescue. They're so....busy. And chew on everything. And pee everywhere. Sheesh. They look just like these guys. We have one of the black ones and one of the brown ones. Adorable. It was love at first sight...and since it doesn't look like I'll ever have grandchildren....

last night reminded me why i love music...
went to see some friends play- they were opening up for a guy i'd never heard of. stayed for the headliner (of course- paid the cover, need to at least check him out). fell IN LOVE with the headliner. so amazing. his name is sean mcconnell. he's like a mix of angie aparo and will hoge- straight up american rock. three piece band- drums, bass, electric...super energetic bluesy guitar rock kind of stuff. he describes himself as 'lyrics driven roots rock'- and that's super accurate. the funny thing is he walked on stage, and he's pretty unassuming- looks like just your average gwg...but then he opened his mouth and the band kicked in. we left early (only because my roommate was super tired and had to get some sleep). ~ dawn

Rain and storms today so our 4th is now on the 5th - parties, potlucks, and fireworks - both sets. I'm cool with that. Movie tonight!

WOBURN, Mass. - Dane Cook's half brother has been indicted on additional charges that he stole more than $11 million from the comedian, prosecutors said Monday. Darryl McCauley, 43, of Wilmington, allegedly wrote company checks to himself and transferred funds into his personal bank accounts while being paid $12,500 a month to serve as business manager for Cook's company, Great Dane Enterprises. |

Beautiful Claire! Just gorgeous. Plain gorgeous.
In other news, and I'm not sure why just this minute I've finally decided to bring it up here--perhaps it's Claire's pictures that stung my heart so, but I've been dealing with the biggest broken heart I could NEVER imagine. My daughter received a devastating diagnosis about a month ago. She has a grade 3 brain tumor--an anaplastic astrocytoma. It's in the left temporal lobe and it's inoperable. She is now receiving radiation (IMRT) and chemo. I'd appreciate your positive thoughts, prayers, chants, whatever you believe that might possibly bring a miracle. I feel pretty disconnected from everything right now. . .I find myself coming around here, perhaps out of habit, not sure, but for some reason, I feel the need to tell people here. 
This is a picture of her from 2004 at a JM concert. She is as beautiful inside as out, and doesn't have a mean bone in her body. She is amazing and I am learning from her, as I have all these years. At her husband's request, I have set up a Caring Bridge site to keep our friends and family updated. It is http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/jensworld. oh MissT, I am so very sorry to hear about your daughter. what heartbreaking and devastating news. I checked out the Caring Bridge site and it sounds like
she's an amazing woman who is up for the fight and staying positive. please know I'm sending healthy and happy thoughts your way! modern medicine is
amazing - have faith in her doctors and keep your chin up. for both of you. the power of positive thinking can do wonders for your health, in my opinion.
and thanks all for the compliments on my site! I built it out over the weekend and have the ability to back-date the posts, so I'm adding content in the past to make it appear as though it's been up for months. in the last 24 hours I've booked quite a bit of work, which honestly surprised me. one woman emailed me to see if I would be interested in shooting her 6 week old twin girls and wanted to go ahead and book portraits for 3, 6, 9 and 12 months. another friend asked if I would come up for a weekend to their lake house in September to photograph her family. yes, please!
