We like artists like sara barielles, colbie calliat, alicia keys, and all those types of girl artists. So if anyone has any suggestions that would be awesome! Thanks

Talent show, song needed! |

Hey guys, heres the deal. We have a drummer, bass, guitar(me), and a singer/piano player(shes a girl). We are entered in a talent show and wanna do a sweet
song mix. Heres what we had in mind. We were going to mix sara barielle's "bottle it up" and "love song". We had an awesome transition
planned but the problem is there is another girl in the talent show thats playing "love song". So being kind, we said we would switch our songs. Now
i'm trying to find a sweet mix of 2 or 3 songs (keep in mind our singer is a girl, she is pretty good too) that would run together smoothly and sound good.

Why don't you mix it up and not just use a female songwriter/singer's song? Some of the best covers out there are the ones that really change the song
and make it there own.
Just a suggestion

when doing a 2-3 song mix its always great to throw something in at the end that has nothing to do with the other three. A band i used to be in, we did this
one show, and i even forget the first two songs, but the last one was Aeroplane by the Chilli peppers...pretty much just condensed down to the guitar and bass
solo portions, and it was a great change up at the end. Its always good to bring it home with something different that has really wide appeal, and something
that is jumping. Your in a talent show, so cheezzzzyyyyy realy works. To be honest i would take two song you really want, and then throw something on the back
like something from reo speed wagon or foghat. it will kill, i promise.

Is your vocalist an Alto or a Soprano? If she is a Soprano you should really give her the most power in these decisions so that she's not hurting herself
and so that you don't have to transpose anything. And you don't always have to go with the cheese for a school event even though it's 99% fool
proof just sell whatever you do like nothing else. My trio played at our schools "Formal" (haha) about a month ago with a setlist full of blues,
originals, and unknown covers. Nobody recognized the stuff but they loved it because we sold it.

Well seeing how we only had a week to come up with it (because we waited so long) we decided to go with a cover of three songs. Its originally by the artist
"Boyce Avenue" on youtube. Its a mix of the songs Tatto by Jordin Sparks, Noone by Alicia Keys, and Where is the love by the Black Eyed peas. Its not
exactly what I wanted but this will be something we can nail and hopefully take the win with. Thanks for the tips and suggestions guys!
