I could tell how he held out "leaves" at 0:22 - 0:23 AND how he threw his head back at 0:29 that this was going to be one hell of a performance! And
the funkiness at 0:56!! Oh my God.
He's been bringing in the tweens with his Swift/Lovato collaborations, and I can almost hear about 10,000 kids googling California Dreamin' this morning.
Maybe it was just me, but I could sense John was panicking a little when he thought Conan wasn't going to thank the kids choir at the end. Fantastic performance. Okay, who has the mp3??? Please. Pretty please. |

You can take all the tricks up my sleeve....

alright, so i guess i'm the only one who thought that the speeding-and-funking-it-up butchered the song... and his vocals - ick. oh well, just not my
taste.

Loved it! Loved it! Loved it! Spot on fantastic performance. John, steve and Pino: You guys were so great! Loved the choir and JM's voice on that song.
Loved the funked up version! Ok......now I really want more from the TRIO!!!!!

Its like your talking to someone about magenta & she says 'Oh, purple. I know that game' & you're like 'no bitch I'm talking about magenta!" ~ JM |

Your Welcome and i thought it was "meh" for the first while but ocne the solo hit...wow. New appreciation for the song now, and i love it. I think
the choir or however its pronounced kind of completed the song. But i am now dying to hear this on the latest album or maybe the next Trio album *gasp*

you tire me wrote: I saw that too! At the end, I sensed he wanted to thank not only the kids , but Pino and Steve. I think he looks at himself in the Trio as the captain of the football team. He knows it's not just one person that made the team successful and everyone should get their due praise. Conan's producers should have given a bit more time to John's time slot. I would have enjoyed hearing him talk for a minute or two. He could have promoted Battle Studies. If it weren't for John, I would have been watching Letterman. I honestly think that Carl Mayer would do a much better job than Conan on the Tonight Show. Even better, Ben could be his Ed McMahon. |

The kids choir part was a respectful reminder of the original version... plus there's the sweater thing. |

Tucker, thank you for saving me a bunch of time, was going to rip the audio the long way around. Might still do if I find a HD source....

Maybe it's my hearing, but the whole thing sounded off to me. Perhaps it's the Hendrix style chordal structure. Liked the song choice, was nice to
see the Trio rock again, just seemed disjointed to me. I liked the kids choir effect but thought it was a mismatch with the heavy rock as well.
So I'll just focus on the hair |

I'll be honest, I've been a Les Paul man all my life, big Randy Rhoads fan, but my God the tones he gets out of that strat, he definitely made me torn
between the two. I immediately plugged in after watching this. Anyone else get an All along the watch tower vibe off of this?

Thanks for the mp3 Hunter! And yes, I too thought John's performance was VERY "Hendrix-esque". I really liked their spin on the song and the
juxtaposition of the funk vs. the choir. Getting more and more impatient for new music!!!

It was awesome, loved every second of it...totally different take on an old favorite song of mine...just conjures up
all kinds of neat old feelings...always loved the Mama's and Pappa's but this is my new favorite rendition of this song! I also loved the Children's Choir touch! All in all: Great job! ...and dare I say? I think we're gonna be getting a Trio record!!! WOOT for The Trio!
