Posts: 2775 (05/31/2009 7:22 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Tags : None I was jamming with my band yesterday with my band and the cable that was going from my pedalboard to the amp started to make some strange noises. I had to change for another cable I took there and then it was ok. Today I tested that cable and it was working fine. Anyways, it made me consider buying good cables at once. I know cables have an important impact on tone and good cables will prevent you from having inconvenient situations like I had yesterday. I checked the forum and only found one old thread that didn't have much on it, so I decided to ask... What are your favorite cables for pedals, for your mics and for guitar/amp? All the cables I have are cheap shitty ones, but I'm decided to buy good ones soon... I'm brazilian, if you'd like to know. Sorry for any english mistakes! My Klotz cables, when A/B'd sound a bit better but they're so much more expensive that I've settled for George L's. When I get my bypass strip, I'll probably use Klotz or something comparable/longer lasting outside the strip and in the FX Loop and then use the George L's for whats in the bypass strip (that's where most of my pedals are anyway).

Buy some Canare G6 cable for your board and either switchcraft connectors or the Neutrik black right angle (They look sweet) and make your own. Those are what I have connecting everything and they are waaaaaay cheaper than just about anything else out there, and definitely cheaper than anything else worth buying. The Mogami cable is also great stuff. But making the cables yourself gives you the lengths you need/want, cost you pennies in comparison and can easily be redone and have backups on hand without breaking the bank. If what you're doing isn't producing results it is merely an excuse.

They have a solderless pedal board kit for around 70 bucks. I can't even begin to tell you how much this cleaned up my signal and got things sounding professional. It's very easy to put them together too.

Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	From my research, which is fairly extensive, I've drawn the conclusion that Evidence makes the best cable. This is off of general consensus and review from credible sources. I always believe that you pay for what you get when it comes to gear unless you're in the vintage market. I went from playing entry level Monsters and to Mogami Golds and noticed a HUGE difference as soon as I plugged them in and we're talking a difference of about $2 s foot. So I can only conclude that the more expensive the cable the better they are going to be (in geneerl). I've read huge amounts of rave about the Evidence Lyrics HGs. At $100 for 10' they gotta be the shit. I've also read very good things about Zaolla Silverline Artists and Mogami Platinums. As for patch cables its logical to assume that those who make the best cables in general will also produce the best patch. Now whether or not they manufacture them is another story. You can always just go out and buy spool and put together some patches by yourself. I believe Evidence make a cable called the Monorail for this purpose. Evidence was first with 5s across the board and Klotz was second with 5s and one 4 for something like noise. I have Klotz and I have got to say they are the best I've used. I have yet to use Evidence. I might get one as a guitar cable since they don't look like they break. It's very easy to put them together too. +1 for Lava Cable again. The solderless kit is 1000x better than George Ls as far as clarity, and they are more reliable. I went balls out a couple months ago and bought two 15' Lava ELC Tweed cables, and a bunch of ELC Tweed patch cables for my pedalboard. The difference was tremendous. And not only that, but if you get preassembled cables from Lava Cable, they have a lifetime warranty. He'll replace it for any reason besides you throwing it into a fire.
