I don't know about some of you guys....
I LOVED it. Perfect tribute to Conan, good tone, great take on a great song, etc. I thought it was really well thought out and put together. |

So I sit and wait with all the other fans for this amazing power trio to resurface and then it happens! we hear they're coming to Conan June 4th. I for one was stoked outta my mind and then it was finally here. But wait. Isn't that the intro to California Dreaming?.... No wayyyy I say to myself. Way. Tell me haven't waited this long for this blazing trio to hear them play the Mamas and Papas. The Trio had an opportunity to do something great and come back and 'bust down the double doors' but that was a disaster. To me the anticipation for the group was like waiting for Stevie Ray Vaughan, and then somehow he's back! and he comes out and plays 'Rain Drops Keep Falling on My Head'... really, really loud. The trio can play, no doubt about that. Never any doubt about that. But they missed a huge opportunity to really launch themselves into stardom as a viable group not a songwriter and two extremely talented studio musicians. Major bummer. Leaves me starting to wonder if our hero has lost his way just a little bit.... |

I thought the tone was real, REAL nice.
I was just really looking forward to hearing something new because that would mean that it was a JM3 album that was coming out, get it? They clearly introduced the act as 'John Mayer Trio' several times, so if he played a new song, that would probably mean that this is a JM3 project that he's been working on. He said that there would be a new trio album coming out soon over a year ago. I was just disappointed that he didn't take this opportunity to officially start the "release" of his next album. If the trio came on and played the first version of 'Heartbreak Warfare' (which I was hoping for), I'd be much happier. Edit: I forget the name of the cabs, but it's a small company run by a guy whos first name is Bob I think. |

Well Come When I Call was a new song and they didn't release an album with it.

Whether or not you thought this performance was what you expected, it's just one out of many amazing performances; you'll probably still shat on yourself over Battle Studies. |

I dont care if you have a dumble and two rock sitting behind you, if you put a crappy pedal like a TS10 in front of it, it's not gonna sound good!

Jesus this board seriously should have a mental capacity limit sometimes.
First of all, John picked this song because it's Conan's first week in Cali, as I already said in the other thread. Secondly, it's late night tv, no one gives a damn if the mix was perfect, it's not worth their time to let john practice 10 times to make sure everything's right. Thirdly, the tone was GREAT and if you don't like it, great, but that probably means you listen to SRV too much. I don't think the tone was too muddy, it was stil pronounced and clear. and cildren, quick bickering or Cait will have to put you all on a time out

I showed this to 3 musicians who aren't fans of John Mayer and they all enjoyed it a lot. Can't see how it was BORING.
I'm brazilian, if you'd like to know. Sorry for any english mistakes!
