once there's a band in there and the scope and space and time for him to wail all over them....
For the record... Friends, Lovers or Nothing... Um. I don't think I'll ever get over it.... Beautiful. You can take all the tricks up my sleeve.... |

I would have been more excited about Purple Haze than any of the new stuff, but that's just me...I love to hear him do Hendrix and SRV, not that I
wouldn't have enjoyed it all...John come on, try out some new stuff on us CT folks :P or just come up to Black Eye Sally's and do a blues show for
us.... Just don't forget to invite me, I don't sit on the edge of my seat for your twitters, sorry. LoL

Conversation with myself while listening to Friends Lovers or Nothing:
JM... "Anything other than "yes" is "no". Anything other than "stay" is "go." Anything less than "I love you" is lying." Me: "Damn you John Mayer, that's the truth, and it HURTS LIKE A M$#%*F&*()%^&R. mutter mumble grumble *sarcastic voice* "The Hurt makes me feel alive..."" Then he went into The Hurt. I'm taking it as a sign. It should be on there. It fits. Mr Mayer, I'm not one to tell you what to do, I know it's your album and your business. But if The Hurt were to appear on Battle Studies... "I'd like that..." You can take all the tricks up my sleeve.... |
|||
you tire me |

Here's the thing with "The Hurt":
His new fans (and the Taylor Swift peeps) will think it's a new song... and they'll LOVE it. His old fans will know it's an old song and LOVE that it's finally getting the attention it deserves. And it completely fits in the Battle theme. AND it's kinda nice seeing an old friend in a new town. |

jjdepaep wrote:Even when he was making Heavier Things he described that his guitar parts were getting way simpler and less complex... This is NOT ALWAYS a bad thing... I feel it makes a song feel more deeper and emotional.... and defiantly raw in a good way. When I heard Fiends Lovers or Nothing I knew this was going to be one of the bigger hits on the record... I'm excited for the record!!!! |

Does anyone else hear just a hint of "Why Did You Mess With Forever" in there?
Or is it just me?

heres the lyrics for friends lovers or nothing
Friends, Lovers or Nothing Now that we are over As the loving kind We'll be dreaming ways To keep the good alive Only when we want is not A compromise Ill be pouring tear Into drying eyes Friends, lovers, or nothing There can only be one Friends, lovers, or nothing We'll never be the in between So give it up You whisper "Come over" Cause your two drinks in But in the morning I will say Good-bye again Think we'll never fall into The jealous game The streets will flood the streets With blood of those who felt the same Friends, lovers, or nothing There can only be one Friends, lovers, or nothing We'll never an the in between So give it up (something exciting!) Friends, lovers, or nothing We can only really ever be one Friends, lovers, or nothing Don't you know We'll never an the in between So give it up No we'll never an the in between So give it up

AKOG, I would agree, but I think I mentioned this before. There is a difference between "spaciousness" and "simplicity." Gravity is comparatively simple and leaves a lot of open space; however, FLON is simple in the sense that the chord formations are nothing exciting and the strum pattern is very archetypal. That is my reasoning. -JJ

2. My life is all about music and photographs. This would've been a nice signature... but John Mayer skipped Asia, again. |

"Friends, Lovers or Nothing" is awesome. I loved at then end when he said "Anything other than yes is no, anything other than stay is go,
anything less than I love you is lying".
So ridiculously good... so happy to hear this.

I already miss the "every summer is a brand new song" line from "Field Trip."
Argh. I'm that guy nitpicking lyrics of songs that aren't even out yet. Even I hate me. |
