I'm not trying to sound exactly like JM. I'm trying to show that every Two Rock amp has that JM/Dumble tone. This just annoys me cause I wanna make
sure the video represents the amp as well as a laptop mic can. My input volume was maxed out, I think this sounds closer to what's actualy coming out. If
you don't think this sounds any different, we're just on two different pages, it's as simple as that. l33t, I'm still waiting for your video
that tops mine. Yep, you started it.

^this was on the right track and shows what you were saying in the first post. MUCH BETTER. tell you what, I'm in bed right now, I'll post in the
morning. I'll have the band over anyway so we can make a full on cover. (or at least they are supposed to come over. who knows)
...when the hell did you buy a CR anyway? |

K, lets find a video that also has a distortion problem.
OH BOY, THE GOOD OLE TWO ROCK DEMO "the distortion you hear is from the camera." if you want, move your mac farther away and/or turn your two rock, and post your clip again. This will give you a chance to rebuttal the arguments about your playing style here. If not, then i guess you're out of luck with most of us. i still doubt it's a mic issue anyway.

i think it is ridiculously funny that you own that amp and have to record it on your laptop mic. anyone else see the humor in that? Considering we're
arguing about tone...
In bed at 10pm leet? did you have a glass of warm milk right before? |

The camera speaker didn't break up at all on that video. Clarity, my SM57 is in my Boston apartment.

handoman, don't believe everything you read. Use your ear. It's easy to tell when a camera speaker is clipping. And I did post a second take at the top
of this page.

bluewaterpig wrote:and make sure you read what you write, as you clearly have mispelled my username haha. nah but seriously, do another video with the mac pushed back. it will help a lot. and if you have mic levels on your mac, turn it down just a bit. It could be a mix of both mic and DIGITAL clipping. turning the mic level down will reduce the digital clipping. |

lol, read the post at the top of this page...that's exactly what I did. The second video doesn't have any clipping.

Bluewater I'm glad you re posted it cause it got the point across , you were right. Sure tone has alot to do with hands but a huge majority of it sonically
speaking is the amp. I could pick up on it in the first video everybody just misunderstood you. But you drove the point home in this second one. I thought both
video's were good man.

Mine does that too, no matter what browser I'm using. I didn't see the original video Blue, you pulled it before I had a chance. I don't blame you for wanting the clean and warm tone in an amp, and I'm not going to sit here and tell you how to spend your money... and I think that 'worthiness' is a poor argument. You're @ Berklee, so you've got to have some chops. You're 100% right, gear - especially the amp selection makes a ton of difference in tone. Its in your fingers, sure - but its still got get boosted and come out of a speaker at some point, and there's a pretty simple reason that great amps cost $$$. If I had the disposable income - I'd be farting around with boutique amps and higher end gear - I can guarantee it. And really - I could care less if I'm worthy in someone else's eyes when I do it. And you've got it right - take care of the big pieces first. I can't believe so many people on a John Mayer board so readily tear into each other about tone, or blast a guy trying to get that magic chime (or point
out how others might get there). John sure as hell isn't the first guy to like the clean channel... and despite all the criticism of others who try -
I'm pretty sure that he's not going to be the last. I really don't get the protectiveness. Like any other player worthy of looking up to - he's
just a guy that's pays attention and is good at what he loves.
just a guy named john |

I didn't see the first video but the second I think is close.
You really can't fairly post a video with the mic you were using. Honestly anyone who judges with just a computer mic is a special K. Pretty solid playing too man, nice.

Thanks for the post Blue. I thought your playing was good. I liked a lot of the licks. Amp sounds nice, as it should
