it's really just a feeling thing, but the main idea of the technique is playing the main note and then muting the others but raking them with the pick as you slide back. A lot of that style of blues playing involves attacking as many notes as possible but only letting the main note actually ring through. It's hard to put into words, it's more if a feel thing but once you get the hang of it, it becomes a natural part of your playing. Hope that helped a little
