i think i'd choose based on the sound and feel of each guitar. play both and just pick from there. in terms of how they look?? i'd be much less worried about that as i would be how they sound and feel in my hands. if i were going on look alone, i'd pick the proto because i think buying a purposely reliced guitar is just asinine. beat your own guitar up so you have the stories for down the road. i'll always know the dent right next to where my strap attaches was from the first time i stuck my strap on and dropped the guitar onto the edge of my piano bench. 14 years later, i still check both ends of the strap before i put my guitar on.
I'd go for the proto one, so you can put your own wear on it yourself, and just so it doesn't look just like all the others. I like purposely reliced guitars, even Mayer relic'd his, but I just wouldn't want an exact copy unless it was only for collectible purposes. If it's your everday guitar, throw it around yourself, it's only wood and paint...

When are they coming out anyway?
