I've been lurking around here for a few months now and I figured it was about time I became a member. So, I am looking to get a new amp. I can't really afford a brand new amp(college student!) so I am going with the next best thing, Craigslist. I am trying to decide between a Princeton Chorus amp(http://lexington.craigslist.org/msg/1388188905.html) and a Fender Deluxe(http://lexington.craigslist.org/msg/1392566332.html). Now, I've only been playing guitar going on about two years now and I'm not too amp knowledgeable. So I would appreciate if you guys could help me decide on which to get, the pros and cons of each, etc... Thanks in advance!

If you are upgrading, it is no use in "upgrading" to something that you will be dumping in a short amount of time.

There are about a zillion solid state amps that are MILLION times better than these amps you have listed. New solid state amps sound much much better than these old klunkers. Even if it isnt a "fender", its going to sound much better than these two. The Line 21 Trademark amps are a new favorite of mine. They can get you all sorts of crazy sounds. Sealo played mine last week and by the look on his face, i would say he was pretty impressed for a small 8" $100 amp. it gets very warm tube sounds as well as some nice british overdrive. i would start there,

I really had no idea what to expect with either of those amps, I mean if I can't play I have no idea if I will like it or not, haha. I have around $450 to spend on this amp, because the upgrade is long overdue. I'm still using a crappy Fender Frontman. It was ok, but I've outgrown it. I've heard a lot of good things about a Blues Jr. What do you think? I've been watching YouTube videos for the past few days trying to decide on this!

The Cleans and reverbs are quite as nice as Fenders, but still sound Fenderish. The OD channel kills the OD channel of the HRD series. I bought my 50 used for 250. You can't really beat them. ALL tube, made in the USA, reliable, and affordable. Mine is an early 90s model and is still running strong. I believe the newer Fender amps like the BJ and HRD are Mexican made, if that makes a difference These crates are pretty sweet and affordable. I'm still not sure though. Tomorrow I'm going to a few guitar shops around town to try some guitars/amps out and just see what feels right. I'm long overdue for a guitar/amp upgrade! Silvertone also has some AMAZING tube amps from the late 50s & 60s....the space ages look weird but sound incredible imo & if you can find one, you're looking between $300-700.

I had wanted a blues jr for a really long time, then I picked up the tweed Classic 30 and never looked book. My dad recently got a blues jr and asked me if I wanted to trade since he knew I wanted one for so long, and I turned him. This is a monster, plus you can dial in some damn fine mayer tones edit:plus if you unscrew the peavey logo on the front grill, it looks even sexier, and vintage. I went to a local guitar shop over the weekend and saw a John Mayer stratocaster. I sat down to play it with no intention of buying it. Well, I fell in love with it and could not pass it up. As far as the amp goes, I ended up getting a blues junior because the owner of the shop cut me a deal I just could not refuse. So I am the proud owner of a John Mayer signature stratocaster and a fender blues junior! I'm loving every minute of it! I'll get pics up soon, but here's a sound demo.
